Light N Easy Steam Cleaner Steam Mop

The main unit is where the water tank is. For your convenience, it's also removable so you can take it out and fill it at the sink (there's a small cup that you can use for filling). Also, it's where the handheld steamer is. To take it out, lift using the handle. As far as controls go, there's a button at the top, which you can use to select between three steam settings (low, medium, high).

There are several benefits of steam cleaning. For one thing, it's much safer as it doesn't require any chemicals—all you need is water. And it's highly effective too; you can use it to remove stains, odors, mold, etc. Not only that, but the heat will kill up to 99% of bacteria. In other words, your house will be that much cleaner!

Depending on what you get, you might also be able to steam clean other surfaces as well. For example, many steam cleaners come with a detachable handheld unit, which you can use to clean stovetops, windows, upholstery, clothing, etc.

The only thing is that it can't be used on all floor types. For instance, you wouldn't want to steam clean hardwood. The water can easily penetrate into the wood, causing it to pucker and deteriorate. On top of that, it can cause serious burns if you're not careful. As long as you know what you're doing, however, it shouldn't be an issue.

Thinking of getting a steam mop for your house? Not sure which one to go for? How about the one by Light 'n' Easy? It works relatively well and won't break the bank. For more information, read the rest of the post!

The Light ' n' Easy Steam Mop

Light 'n' Easy is an online brand that you can find on Amazon. From the looks of it, their main product seems to be their steam mops (they currently have five models available). Aside from that, they also sell coffee makers, though they're currently unavailable.

Product Description

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop Cleaner is a multipurpose cleaning system that you can use for various surfaces including the floor, curtains, upholstery, bedsheets, etc. Easy to operate, all you have to do is pour in some water and it'll heat up within 30 seconds. There are also three heat settings so you can choose exactly how much steam you want to use. And if you want, you can use it as a handheld steamer with the various attachments provided. For example, you can use the squeegee tool to clean your windows.

What's In the Box?

  • 1 Main Unit
  • 3 Microfiber Mop Pads
  • 2 Grout Cleaning Brushes
  • 1 Jet Nozzle
  • 1 Window Squeegee Tool
  • 1 Extension Hose

Assembly:Start by attaching the steam mop base to the mop head. From there, attach the handle to the main body—there should be a "click". All that's left afterward is to place one of the mop pads (three are provided with the kit) on the bottom and you're ready to go.

In addition to that, you'll also get two cleaning brushes, a jet nozzle, a window squeegee tool, and an extension hose, which you can use with the handheld unit.

Build Quality

When it comes to steam mops, you want to make sure that whatever you get is durable—you don't want it to fall apart after a few uses. If you can, try to get something that has a metal handle (some are made of plastic). For example, stainless steel and aluminum are good choices; they tend to last much longer compared to other materials.

How Well Built Is the Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop?

This particular steam mop does have a metal handle. Like most mops, however, the main body and base are made of plastic so there's always a chance that it can crack or break. Given that, you want to be careful when you're using it. For one thing, you wouldn't want it to fall onto the ground.

As for the microfiber mop pads, they're decently thick and hold up well in the wash—we have no major complaints there.

A Few Drawbacks

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop has its pros and cons. Here's what you need to know about it.

Small Water Tank

The water tank is rather small due to the compact size of the mop. Unless you're spot-cleaning, you will have to refill it at least once, which as you can imagine, will make the job more time-consuming. Also, it's hard to see the inside of the tank due to its gray color so you have to be careful not to overfill it.

No On/Off Button

This steam mop doesn't have an on/off button. While you can turn it on by setting the steam setting to low, you won't be able to turn it off unless you physically unplug it from the outlet.

It Can Be Hard to Push

The steamer isn't necessarily heavy, but resistance tends to build up when you're using it so it can be a little difficult to push at times.

Lack of Steam

This particular model doesn't seem to produce as much steam as other brands of steam mops. Even if you crank it to the highest setting, the vapor that comes out is minimal. Depending on the mess that you're dealing with, you might not find it to be enough.

Trigger Has To Be Held Down For Handheld Unit

If you're using the handheld unit, you will have to press and hold the trigger down to dispense steam. As you can imagine, this can get tiring quickly, especially since you also have to hold the unit up.

No Storage Bag

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop doesn't come with a storage bag for the various tools. In other words, you'll have to find a place to put the accessories yourself and make sure not to lose them because they aren't exactly easy to get!

Can't Be Used On Carpets

This steam mop doesn't come with a carpet glider. As a result, you won't be able to use it on carpet and rugs—it's only for hard floors such as tile, cement, laminate, etc.

Lack of Customer Support

This particular point doesn't have anything to do with the steam mop itself, but the company. Put it simply, there's no way to get support for the product. There's a link on their website but it doesn't work. So if something happens to it, you're out of luck.

Attachments Don't Work That Well

The general consensus seems to be that the attachments don't work very well. Take the concentrated nozzle, for example, it only attaches to the machine, not to the hose. The grout brushes don't work that well either—you really have to scrub for the grime to come out.

Does It Clean Well?

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop isn't the best steam mop out there. Like we said earlier, the steam is kind of weak so you might not find it enough. Also, it's hard to push (it doesn't exactly glide effortlessly across the floor). The attachments are also average at best if you plan on using it as a handheld unit.

Who Would We Recommend It To?

  • People who don't have carpets
  • People who plan on doing light cleaning or spot cleaning
  • People who are looking for a steam cleaner for their floors

Pricing and Cost Information

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop retails for $119.99 on Amazon, which makes it one of the more expensive models that you can get (some steam mops are as low as $50). Shipping, however, is free if you get it from Amazon. The same goes for returns and refunds.

Now, we mentioned this earlier, but replacement brushes, pads, etc are pretty much impossible to get for this steam mop. For one thing, they're not sold in their store. Youmightbe able to use ones from other brands but you'll have to make sure that the sizing matches.

Our Take

The Light 'n' Easy Steam Mop is essentially a two-in-one in that you can use it as a standalone or as a handheld unit. Featuring three heat settings, it can be used to clean the floor, curtains, bedding, upholstery, etc. There are also various attachments included that you can use with the steamer. Keep in mind, however, that not all of them work that well. Also, the machine doesn't that much steam compared to other models. Not to mention that the water tank is on the small side. For light messes, however, it'll probably be enough to get the job done.
